Doing your own taxes to save money can end up costing you much, much more in the long run. A good tax specialist might cost a few hundred dollars, but they can often go back to your prior returns and fix your taxes and increase the amount the IRS owes you, or decrease the amount you owe the IRS. Usually these services more than pay for themselves. Contact H & R Block, they tend to do a pretty good job.
D.I.Y Taxes
If you’ve got the time, and you’re a stickler for details, you could always try to go back and adjust your old tax returns or file your own. There are services that make this much easier, the most popular of which is probably TurboTax.
